Lag B'Omer

I was asked to shoot the Lag B'Omer celebration at the Hebrew Academy in Huntington Beach, CA last week.  We had really crazy weather for Southern California.  As I was leaving the house, it began to rain and looked really threatening.

When I turned on the radio, the first thing I heard was about the sighting of tornados near March Air Force Base about 60 miles east of here.  I was also hearing Thunder and actually unplugged my computer and hard drives before I left the house.

Fortunately, I have two Pentax K10 bodies with their 16-50 and 50-135 weather sealed lenses along with a Gor-Tex parka.  Rain was not a problem for me, and as I found out, it was not a problem for the children who are also weather sealed.  It is just their clothing that gets wet which is only an inconvenience for the parents.

This all made for some very nice shooting weather.

8th Day Live

A shoot from April 6th at JewishCypress.com in front of a live audience with Benzion and Shmueli creating their special blend of music.  I don't know who had the most fun.  The audience was just mesmerized, the boys were really into what they were playing, and I was having a ball with the access to some great shooting opportunities.

It is really amazing to watch Benny in action.  Besides singing, playing guitar, and being the creative force behind 8th Day, he is managing the iMac with the squiggly lines while recording and re-recording the tracks.  It is obvious that he is aware of all that is going on around him simultaneously and can direct the action with minimal effort.
